Silly to me that the meaning of the hand sign in New York generally seems to be "good" or "perfect" especially as it relates to food, but it means "c'mon" or "what do you want?" in Italy.
That's good too I was mostly nodding at the meme, but it's true of course. If you prefer to invite new people to become members here that can also work probably.
Heh. I never really understood the meme of anime girls/ponies laying on top of rice like nigiri. I figured it was a vore thing. Kinda cute still though.
The original touhu bossa nova song is way better then the version used for this. Guy adds a synth drum beat, one fist of the Northstar line at the start and claims the whole song as his. He even went as far as copyright striking the original song too on YouTube too
Still, some of that stuff survived. It's just that the real wild combos never survived or have been cooked only as an "ironic" throwback, and the survivors have been fervently denied as a child of the Eighties (though granted vitel tonnè was much older, but the name made people think at the time it was French)

It's funny to me that that's an 80s stereotype in Italy on par with American 50s jello creations.
Yeah, similar contexts for that too: the "Economic Miracle" for Italy was the Fifties-Sixties, but the real wealth appearedi n the Eighties, coincidentially just as the first generation of people born mostly in the cities came of age.
16:14
So they wanted to break away from the old. Even if it meant meaking, well, jello creations and serving grilled chicken with ketchup
I became partial to Italian cooking while I lived in the south. The central regions only showed me what tourists eat since I visited only briefly, so I don't know if it appeals to me as much as what i was truly immersed in.
Chances are you missed out on some pretty good stuffed pasta, though what they make in Apulia is really tasty (if heavy, eggplant parmigiana sandwiches tend to knock you out ). Dunno about Basilicata, I've never had the chance to visit, and the Basilicatan maid I have says it's mostly vegetable soups unfitting to polish Neapolitan cooking's shoes.
16:25
I actually have had Calabrian and Abruzzese roommates, lots of sheep and spicy salami were eaten, as well as "bullet-style" pasta with meatballs.
My American companions and I only ate at the homes of Italian friends occasionally, so my experience centers on what we ate from shops like bakeries, pizzerie, or ready made at grocery stores.
Ah, so kinda different from what I've been describing. But I suspect you did get a taste of arancine / arancini every once in a while. That, and calzoni
I never lived in the Basilicata myself, but I loved the spicy salsicia di fegato in Calabria, the formaggi and fresh pasta in Lecce, the arancini, grenite, and seafood across a handful of cities in Sicilia.
Sounds nice to me too. Though I can't help but think it's yet another case of "focaccia and pizza are felt interchanagle if you are far away from Genoa and Naples"
Yeah, it had a strong flavor that worked well being simmered for half the day.
16:38
There was a pizzeria Napolitana in Caltanissetta that I really enjoyed, It was also one of the few cities I lived in with a native Italian companion. He came from a part far north surrounded by Switzerland, and I got to share the chocolate his family sent him.
Yes. That pizza ended up being the closest thing I found to typical American franchise pizza, having a thicker crust, but it was still far superior for the quality of the dough and produce, imo. I usually ate the pizza with tomato sauce, prosciutto crudo, parmeggiana scalata, and arugala.
Uhuh. That's pretty lucky.
And that sounds pretty nice. The thicker crust is useful for grabbing, so I tend to prefer it too. Also, how did the dough differ from the americna version?

I'm looking at it now. I really wish I had better memory. His family name was Tiddia.(edited)
16:50
I also lived with a Petrolini in Calabria. Petrolini always impressed me with his work ethic.
16:51
Tiddia seemed a more sentimental, openly kind fellow.
16:52
Both showed care and conviction. Oh and I lived with one more whose name I've forgotten.(edited)
16:57
Altogether, I spent about 21 months in Italy and Sicily. I wonder if many Sicilians still talk about being more independent or detached politically from the mainland. I didn't dive into the politics, but we came across it occasionally.
16:58
I just remembered Matranga was the last Italian I lived with (and the first if I count his older brother who was at our training center in the US).
my boss at jack's expected me to learn like everybody else, and fired me when i couldn't make it to a retraining session
turns out she also checked a box so i couldn't be re-hired
17:36
the new boss, who wants to hire me, offered to send my application up the chain, but warned that it can take a while. like upwards of 6 months
Lol. My ex was my sister in faith. Our goddess adopted both of us, so we were brother and sister in a sense. Before that we were spiritual cousins, which was still very lewd(edited)
My dad did always say that the day I found ranch in his fridge would be the day I married my cousin
06:03
Kinda upped the ante. Now I really had to find a cousin, lol(edited)
06:05
Ugh.... few weeks ago at a funeral I saw a cousin of mine I used to have a crush on. Haven't seen her in like a decade but she is just as beautiful as she was back then. She's like 20 now and a drop dead 10 of 10. No blood relation, but still legally my cousin
Excellent. I honestly need to pay my nickel arcade a visit. It's similar except they still make you insert a nickel for each machine in addition to the entry cost, so it's 20 games for a US dollar.(edited)
I guess if "loli" is actually more than an anime character and looks like a true girl, then vtubers aren't quite that close, even ignoring the necessity to ejaculate to just images rather than with a partner.
Chimpanzees have been found to share yet another of the characteristics we think of as quintessentially human: the capacity to weigh intent after suffering
Settling wars through single combat has gone out of fashion since the end of the Middle Ages, but could 2022 see its comeback? Well, tech billionaire Elon
Truth be told, he wasnโt all that either, ever since his thirteenth birthday, he had bedded at least 500 women. Given that he was 18 this year, he had bedded and discard over 100 women per year.

When I think about it, an upside down cross seems less blasphemous than an upright one. I think multiple apostles requested crucifixion upside down when they were martyred because they didn't consider themselves worthy of the same death the Savior experienced.
Also I know old missionaries and priests used to wear an upside down cross when talking to those who followed the Norse gods to convince them that Thor and Jesus were the same
09:27
Since many would wear a symbol of Thor's hammer around their neck and an upside down cross could look like it with enough convincing

Yeah I have a few friends who follow the Norse gods, with a friend in particular who wears his Thor's hammer around his neck no matter where he is
16:34
Of course he is angry with how the Marvel Thor is changing and ruining the idea of what Thor and the Norse gods are like nowadays
16:36
But yeah he told me how Catholics went around with upside down crosses to convince the Norse worshippers that they should follow the teachings of Christianity because it's much the same as the Norse religion
16:38
Meanwhile I begun to follow Epona but there is so little on her except for extreme hippy writings from nowadays. She was popular enough of a pagan god that Romans fighting against the Gauls ended up adopting her as one of their gods and worshipping her too
16:39
But how can you not love a god born from a man and mare being intimate?
Cute Chrysalis, love the classic changeling design more then anything. Own of the reasons I didn't watch the later seasons was because I saw the screenshots of the new look for them and was devastated
As an author, I think it's better in my specific creative niche to watch the entire show so I can make fun of the bad parts without having to rely on second-hand and third-hand accounts.
09:34
I'm not generally a fan of the later seasons, but there's still some great episodes in them.
i fell off the show about season 5 like many did, but i finally came back around 2019 and watched it all. i've since seen it all a few times and i still believe seasons 2-4 are the best, but its all subjective. those seasons were also during the most interesting and choatic part of my growing up, so that makes sense.
That's funny, cuz I actually think Starlight Glimmer fixed the biggest sins of Twilight becoming an alicorn -- that being that Hasbro suddenly cut all of her snarky personality because it wasn't 'princess-like'. Starlight has all of the snark that Twilight lost.
The new writers self insert new Twilight being placed into Main 6 to make it 7 was a big straw for those that still remained after the Princess Twilight debacle
09:40
Well it was a two stage problem, removing the best bits of Twi, with fans hoping it would come back, them finding out Glimmer would do those now finally crushed a lot of spirits then
Burger
Basically for me and the fan things I ran, Starlight Glimmer killed the show
starlight glimmer being reformed was essentially what made me leave, but i was already not paying attention well before that. I later came to love glimmy, adn trixie, another pony who i refused to like back in my edgy youth.
now i have a life sized trixie plush on my bed. god i love being an adult.

I think a lot of it also depends on what motivates a person to watch the show
09:44
Like, I never gave a shit about Derpygate, even though everyone was turbo raging all over the internet.
09:44
But the existence of EqG pisses me the fuck off.

at that time in history i was under the handle Derpy Hooves, had a pretty popular twitter account. in fact my first custom plush is a shit quality derpy from 2011

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely convinced it was the work of an elaborate troll.
09:47
I just don't care, because -- and this is the part that most people would tell me I'm insane for -- but I actually think the new dub is objectively better.
a huge overreaction to a one off scene where the VA didnt know who she was voicing.
oh hey! Remember my Tabitha story? the merch in my hand that day was the 2012 SDCC derpy
No. The entire concept of Celestia and Luna retiring sours the Twilight / Celestia relationship in a way that, for lack of a better word, taints the entire show. No longer is it just a Mentor / Student relationship that is cute and bubbly and fun - it's now a millennia-year-old Princess fed up with ruling who wants to train up a successor so she can stop dealing with all of Equestria's shit. Because Celestia never even considers if Twilight wants the role, it colors Celestia's character in a much less favorable light and turns her relationship with Twilight into something almost predatory.
09:51
It literally completely and retroactively alters the entire relationship the show is based on.
i kinda felt like that was teh vibe from day one. the whole trollestia concept was basically "fuck it twilight will handle it i'm just gonna mysteriously not be available"
09:53
but i can agree it just felt weird and awkward
09:53
the whole show did for a while, between seasons 5 and 9 it happens a lot
TatersBarn
you mean orangemanbad culture turned into a pony story?
Oh yeah, that's another point with how I run Wincest -- I clamp down hard on politics before it turns into arguments. Often religion too, but that depends a bit more on the context.
09:54
To the point that most users won't ever even bring up politics, and those that do get shouted down relatively quickly without my involvement.
i once got invited to Witchtaunters server specifically because i was talking about politics somewhere, and at the time i was using a recolored witchaunter piece as my PFP (lyra happens to look like taters what can i say)
it was a fun time, got called out for stealing art. by everyone except the artist.
My goal is to run a community centered on ponies, and politics has fuck-all to do with that. There's a million other places to discuss politics that aren't my server.

Thorax pre change was a good character they could of developed

back then it was hard to get plushies in any official capacity. I made my own very basic Fluttershy with a pattern i bought from Etsy. I still keep her close sometimes while the nice build-a-bear plushies stay on the shelf usually.
